formed in 1948 and affiliated to GUI in 1950. The founder members did
quite a lot of preparatory work on the course, when it was laid out.
The tourism Golf boom in this area has contributed to our income and
this money has been reinvested in the course with large additions of
tree plantations and upgrading of the drainage system.

County Cavan Golf Club was
founded in 1894. It became affiliated to the golfing Union of Ireland
in 1899, and has a membership of 800. Practice area is available. The
club offers snack and bar meal services.

Russell Golf & Country Club, which takes its name from the nearby
Slieve Rushen, is set amidst 300 acres of magnificently landscaped
gardens including 50 acres of lakes, which play a significant role in
the challenge of the golf course. Designed by leading Irish course
architect Patrick Merrigan and opened for play in August 1992, the
championship standard golf course has quickly become recognised as one
of Ireland's leading venues.
