Whether you enjoy fishing our superb river, trotting about one of our local Golf Courses or walking around the picturesque town of Belturbet itself, you will enjoy your stay and more importantly, your holiday. The town of Belturbet has a host of public houses and restaurants with music and craic most nights of the week. Horse riding is available locally at a number of Top Class Riding Centres.

County Cavan is Ireland's premier angling location and has a well earned reputation for its coarse and pike fishing. In addition, there are many fine game angling river stretches and wild brown trout lake fisheries. Our highly developed angling centres offer the visiting angler excellent facilities ensuring a first class and truly memorable holiday. Belturbet offers year round fishing and it is said that an angler is not an angler until he has fished Belturbet. Individual catches of over 100 lbs is commonplace.

There are a wide range of amenities throughout this Lakeland area to suit the visitor and the family such as Killykeen Forest Park. Turbet Island and many walking, cycling and trekking areas. Plus the delightful view of surrounding countryside and ever changing landscape.

Enjoy nature at its best by pony trekking through the beautiful grounds of Madden's Estate (near Redhills) or in nearby Killykeen Forest Park.

The club was formed in 1948 and affiliated to GUI in 1950. The founder members did quite a lot of preparatory work on the course, when it was laid out. The tourism Golf boom in this area has contributed to our income and this money has been reinvested in the course with large additions of tree plantations and upgrading of the drainage system.

County Cavan Golf Club was founded in 1894. It became affiliated to the golfing Union of Ireland in 1899, and has a membership of 800. Practice area is available. The club offers snack and bar meal services.

The Slieve Russell Golf & Country Club, which takes its name from the nearby Slieve Rushen, is set amidst 300 acres of magnificently landscaped gardens including 50 acres of lakes, which play a significant role in the challenge of the golf course. Designed by leading Irish course architect Patrick Merrigan and opened for play in August 1992, the championship standard golf course has quickly become recognised as one of Ireland's leading venues.
